 CHRISTMAS: LIGHTS, SHADOWS AND HOPES

Christmas lights shine illuminating the faces, pale looks emerge from them escaping from the trembling and loneliness of shipwrecked; glances without the clear and clean light of joy, shadows of lost beings, torn down by the weight of uncertainty, beings dispossessed of themselves by other people's speeches: slogans that resonate endlessly blurring the clear line that separates what is right from what is wrong.
Greed bells that imprison and alienate the spirits, leading them to lose the identity that defines them, plunging their aura into a confused state of immaturity and unhappiness.
To be aware of this, hurts me, spider my spirit and my hope trembles. And then I distance myself, I take refuge in the monastery of my being plunged into a peaceful silence and imagine loving looks, gentle gestures, smiles full of joy jumping among the wandering crowd; I close my eyes and devise rains of colors fanning the flame of life and clinging to the idea of a world with human sense.
When my cracked hope is about to wither, suddenly, I see a child absorbed, watching attentively a violin that sounds tempered by the expert hand of a musician and my faith in the future is reborn again.
The days of Christmas we surround with the Magic and the restlessness of the family meetings. Magic because we’re glad to see the people we love that, due the distance or the work, we hardly see and frequently only on Christmas day. Restlessness because with the family we feel as if we be divided, as if we were two persons: the one we are at present and the one, which we were and still be in their eyes. When we are with them we feel a subtle demand that pushes us to adjust to the image they keep of us, fixed, as if it were a photo in a dusty album. We want to make them happy and in a barely perceptible way, we begin to act by adjusting to that portrait, thus making us strangers to ourselves.
We as well need they remain faithful to the image that from them we keep in our album of memories, those image that makes us feel safe, in a happy paradise that surely not existed. But time has changed us; successive brushstrokes of life have painting a particular portrait of each of us, with tones and nuances of our own. We are the light of our memory and we cannot adjust to any still image, to any portrait of the past. This which we see clearly when it comes to ourselves, we have trouble accepting it with respect to others. It frustrates us to see that they do not fit the image we have of them thus we often react by charging with small reproaches what a time of joy should be.
Leaving the group, becoming an individual, maturing, is the only thing that allows us to relate with the others freely and satisfactorily.
To prevent the environment in our Christmas meeting will becoming rarefied, I propose that, when we meet, we leave out our small reproaches, demands, unresolved problems and, if possible, enter with the soul in white to celebrate Christmas together as something initiatory; perhaps in this way we can create one of those perfect moments in which no left over or missing nothing; those moments in which harmony reigns, which is always loaded with serene happiness.

Merry Christmas! May next year bring you all new lights of hope and lots of moments of serene happiness.
